Your membership

Pro and Max, the 7-day free trial, what you pay for (and what you don't), and how to change or cancel your membership on Patreon.

vamAI memberships run through Patreon. Your membership turns on the vamAI app's features. The AI itself is separate: you bring your own keys, and each AI service bills you directly.

Pro and Max

There are two memberships. The membership page lists everything each one includes, and the prices.

In Pro, Director Mode and Acting on her own are the conversation: she talks, plans and reacts, but nothing changes in your scene by itself. Everything she changes in VaM by herself is in Max.

The free trial

New accounts can try everything in Max for 7 days.

  1. Download vamAI and sign in with Patreon in the app. See Signing in & devices.
  2. Choose Start my free trial. vamAI offers it right after you sign in, and in Advanced → Settings → Account.

The trial starts when you choose it, not when you sign in, so you can set everything up first. Each account gets one trial, and so does each computer. When the trial ends, join Pro or Max on Patreon to keep going.

There are no vamAI credits or usage fees. What you use at each AI service is between you and that service, on your own account. Services that run on your PC cost nothing per use.

Joining

  1. Join Pro or Max on vamAI's Patreon page (opens in new tab).
  2. In vamAI, sign in with the same Patreon account: Advanced → Settings → Account → Sign in with Patreon. See Signing in & devices.

Without a membership

The app still opens and you can set it up: your AI services and keys, the VaM plugin, your microphone. vamAI keeps one saved character, and a new install already has one, Nora. Conversations and the other features stay off until you start your free trial or join.

When you reach something your membership doesn't include, vamAI tells you plainly what it is and how to get it. For example, in Pro: "Max includes Scene actions, and Pro doesn't. Upgrade to Max on Patreon (Settings → Account)." The messages are listed in Error messages explained.

Seeing what your membership includes

Open Advanced → Settings → Account. The Membership card shows your plan (Pro, Max, Free trial or No membership), the dates that apply, and the state of your license on this computer. See Your account in Settings.

Changing or cancelling

You manage your membership on Patreon, in your Patreon memberships (opens in new tab).

  • To move between Pro and Max, change your tier on Patreon.
  • After joining or changing your tier, open Settings → Account in vamAI and choose Check now, so the change shows up straight away. Otherwise vamAI picks it up on its next automatic check, within a few hours.
  • If you cancel or pause, your membership keeps working until the end of the period you've already paid for. After that, the app's features are off until you join again.

Your characters, voices, memories and settings stay on your PC either way. Nothing is deleted when a membership or a trial ends, and a character you saved in Max stays yours in Pro: Pro only stops you saving a new one past 3.

Note

Patreon handles the billing for your membership. Charges from an AI service are between you and that service.
