The vamAI panel in VaM
Everything on the vamAI plugin's panel inside Virt‑A‑Mate, from starting a session in VaM to who's who, captions and its few settings.
Once the vamAI plugin is on a Person atom in your scene, it has its own panel in VaM: select the atom, open its Plugins tab and choose the plugin's Open Custom UI…. From there you can start and stop sessions without leaving VaM, which is handy in a headset. It always stays in step with the app: choose a character or an atom in one, and the other follows.
If you haven't installed it yet, see Connecting Virt‑A‑Mate.
The status bar
The bar at the top of the panel says how things stand, with a line under it saying what to do next.
| It reads | What it means |
|---|---|
| Connected to vamAI | All good. "Ready. Start a session on the Main tab or in the vamAI app." |
| Waiting for the vamAI app… | Open vamAI on this PC. The plugin connects by itself. |
| Reconnecting to vamAI… | vamAI closed or stopped answering. The plugin keeps trying. |
| Not connected | The plugin is switched off in this atom's Plugins tab. Turn it on. |
| Another VaM is connected | A second copy of VaM is already connected to vamAI. Close it, and this one connects by itself. |
| Plugin out of date / vamAI app out of date / Versions don't match | The plugin and the app are from different releases. Get the newest of both from the downloads page. |
| Can't connect: reload the plugin | Something went wrong while it started. Reload it from the atom's Plugins tab. |
| Interactive: on / Director: on | A session is running. |
| Interactive didn't start / Director didn't start | The line under it says why, for example "Pick a character first." |
The Main tab
| Section | What's there |
|---|---|
| Interactive | Character, a few lines about her, and Start talking / Stop talking. |
| Who's who | Her: the Person atom she speaks and moves through. You: the one that stands for you. The same choice as Scene setup in the app. |
| Microphone | Device: the microphone vamAI listens to. vamAI remembers a choice made here. |
| Director | Scenario, and Start scenario / Stop scenario. |
If a list is empty or out of date (you've just added a character in the app, or a person to the scene), use Refresh lists on the Settings tab.
The Settings tab
The plugin's settings are saved with your scene. You rarely need them.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Port and Retry every (s) | Where vamAI listens (12605 unless you changed it in vamAI) and how often the plugin tries again while vamAI isn't there. Press Apply after changing them. |
| Mute VAMMoan in sessions | Pauses VAMMoan and the other plugins that use her voice (Life's Breathing, for example) during every session, then restores them. Without it, they cut into her speech. On by default. |
| Track arousal from touch | The plugin counts her excitement from touch too. vamAI also estimates it from how you move together and goes by the higher of the two, so touch can only lift it. On by default. |
| Refresh lists | Reloads the scene's people, your characters and your scenarios. |
| Caption size | Small, Medium or Large, for captions in VaM. Show a sample shows one straight away, so you can check the size and position. |
| Show body points | Shows the points vamAI tracks on each body. For troubleshooting. |
| Enable debugging | Shows the plugin's log in the panel and writes more to VaM's own log. Useful when support asks for it. |
Starting things from your scene

- Start Interactive and Stop Interactive
- Start Scenario and Stop Scenario
- Pause Idle Motion, Resume Idle Motion and Toggle Idle Motion (see Idle motion)
